Product Overview
NOTE: Please measure the joint center-to-center lengths of your tie rod and crossover steering drag links and enter those measurements into the appropriate boxes on this page.
Replace the worn out tie rod and crossover steering drag arm on your Pathfinder Chevy K-Van 4x4 conversion with these brand-new components from Pathfinder Vans.
This set includes a tie rod, crossover steering arm, and steering stabilizer bracket for a Chevy Pathfinder 4x4 "K-Van." Featuring fully adjustable and replaceable one-ton tie rod ends, these components are made in the USA out of 1-1/2" OD DOM steel tubing (stock size is 1-1/8") with quality greasable joints.
Why Upgrade?
Pathfinder was a contracted manufacturer of 4x4 conversions for GM/Chevrolet and Ford vans from the later 70's through the early 90's. For reasons unknown, Pathfinder chose to build their tie rods and crossover drag links (on the later side-to-side steering box models) with one fixed end and one adjustable end. This created two major problems:
1. The fixed-end joint on both arms is irreplaceable. Pathfinder welded a non-adjustable, non-replaceable joint one end of the arm. Once that joint starts failing, the entire arm is now good for scrap metal.
2. On a standard tie rod, the two ends are threaded in opposite directions so the center section of the rod acts like a turnbuckle coupling. This allows the tie rod's length to be perfectly adjusted before being locked in place - Not so on the original Pathfinder tie rod! Because only one side of the original Pathfinder tie rod is adjustable, its length can only be changed by full turns of the adjustable end. This means your tie rod will never be the proper length, leading to bad steering characteristics and higher tire wear!
